Get Back Up!

Get Back Up!
motivation, balloon on a chair

If you live long enough you’ll lose heart whilst chasing your dreams. I’ve been there, actually earlier this week I WAS there, operative word, WAS! I’m not a fan of sitting idly in my mess. Depending on the situation I give myself ample time, in this case I gave myself an hour to feel disappointed, shocked and all those other words that describe pain and then I threw myself back into my business.
Why? Because I’ve learned that allowing yourself to wallow in mistakes and mishaps allows that negative energy to breed and spread like wild flower. The more people you tell your story to the more you allow that negativity to spread and honestly most people won’t tell you that you messed up. They help you point fingers and shift the blame from you, when in reality there was SOMETHING (there’s ALWAYS something) that you didn’t or could have done better, or simply your opponent was better. Jordan was the greatest and he still lost games.  So in reality you haven’t resolved your issue or found ways to be better the next time around, because trust me there will be a next time.
Oh yeah, back to me! One of my good friends said that she was watching Insecure and that the lead character, Issa, reminded her of me when she saw her rapping in the mirror.

Issa insecure rapping

If we haven’t met, yes I am goofy and terrible in social settings, but I don’t rap in the mirror. I do however spend a lot of time in my head and on occasion I talk to myself out loud. I also journal when I’m really going through it. I have one rule that I started earlier this year for every time I am frustrated I write down my blessings and in doing so it allows me to remember that this is temporary and this too shall pass. I’ve written about heartache and you can read that here, but what I want you to take away from this is that failure and disappointment are a part of the game and if you intend to win you have to keep playing.

Here are a few takeaways and quotables and simply girl byes for you to run with and prosper:
•    Failure is a part of the game, but it’s not the entire game!
•    Just as there are more fish in the sea, there are more opportunities out there for you to showcase your greatness.
•    God only created one of you and there is something and someone who needs exactly what you are giving.
•    Timing is everything!
•    Ask for feedback and take that feedback seriously.
•    Self -evaluate. Create a SWOT analysis (Strengths Weakness Opportunities and Threats) and prepare for your next opportunity.
•    Journal, talk to yourself or listen to motivating music, do whatever you need to do to get back up and keep pushing!

Hope, sparkler in hands
